Written by yours truly, a Hosie fan.

Hello, before I continue writing this, I just want to preface that I am a Hosie shipper, so this article will have a bit of a biased opinion (a bit is an understatement) so just know that this is purely from my own standpoint. Thank you, A.J

Hope Mikaelson and Josie Saltzman, also know as “Hosie” from the CW show ‘Legacies’ remains to be one of the most iconic ships ever due to the power of the dynamic they had on the show. They were the trope of “everyone can see it but them”

In the beginning of season 1, Hope and Josie had a tendency to butt heads. The two of them were not really considered friends but they were not necessarily enemies either. They learned they had to work as a team in order to defeat the monsters that were coming and attacking, which brought them closer in a sense. Josie, after being exposed for lying to Lizzie about Hope saying things about her, was confronted by Hope herself, she confessed her crush on Hope from when they were younger. Young Josie had a crush on young Hope, and young Josie wrote a note and slipped it under Hope’s dorm. After an immediate sense of regret, Josie tried to set the note on fire, but it, by accident, set Hope’s dorm on fire.

Hope, upon learning about Josie’s crush, was instantly smitten and flattered by Josie’s confession. But that part was what paved the way to Hope and Josie becoming one of the best ships to exist.

While I confess to being a tad bit biased about Hosie as a ship itself, there were a lot of moments where you can tell that the characters had some kind of underlying feelings for each other. Whether it was intentional by the actresses or not is unknown, but it was clear as day to myself and my other people who I know who ship the ship (and people outside of twitter as well)

In season 2, nobody remembers Hope, but Hope, remembers everyone else. She is seen to be jealous of Josie and Landon (who is Hope’s ex boyfriend) (who both forgot Hope and eventually gravitated towards each other due to them both feeling a missing piece), but on occasion, it remains questioned if Hope was jealous due to Landon being with Josie, not Josie being with Landon. Almost as if Hope wanted to be with Josie, rather than Landon.

In season 2, Hope confesses to Lizzie (who remembers her) that she had a crush on Josie when she was a little younger. Which is instantly connecting the dots that young Hope and young Josie had feelings for each other around the same time frame.

During a portion of time in season 2, Josie gets overtaken by dark magic and becomes ‘dark Josie’, which causes everyone to become slightly afraid of her. Everyone wants to hunt Josie down and handle things their own way, but Hope refuses to give up on Josie and goes to the ends of the Earth to bring the real Josie back. Which she eventually does return.

In season 3, Hope and Josie remain at an awkward distance. Josie leaves for Europe to avoid being shunned by the school for her dark Josie moments, while Hope remains at school, trying to piece back together what her and Landon had. There were moments where it was clear that Hope and Josie still had feelings for each other, and who’s feelings were growing stronger.

In Season 4, Hope ends up becoming a tribrid (a werewolf, witch and vampire all in one) and after an unfortunate series of events, Hope turns off her humanity and loses all sense of feelings that a human had. Josie fights with everything in her soul to bring Hope back. To the point it is very clear that she is in love with Hope. While Hope, remains unaware to her feelings and finds it impossible to get Josie to give up on her. Josie refuses because Hope didn’t give up on her when she was dark Josie, so Josie would never give up on her. The entirety of season 4, despite a few moments, were Josie trying her hardest to find the real Hope. She went as far as wanting to bring Hope back, despite her injuring her father (to the brink of death). Lizzie (Josie’s twin) eventually calls Josie out for her slight obsession with trying to bring back Hope, which is the another moment of ‘everyone can see it but her’, while Hope’s moment was taken place in season 2. Josie eventually left the school to bring Hope’s humanity back and it was Josie, who did bring her back. Which makes Hope realize that she should send the dagger (the only thing that can truly kill a tribrid) to Josie, the person she can trust the most with it.

Despite the show being canceled. The last episode was left open ended. Hope was single and not dating anybody, it is believed by Hosies that Hope ended up visiting Josie in Europe and those two eventually got together.

While this remains my opinion, I do strongly believe that Hope and Josie had feelings for each other. Strong ones. While Josie was clearly aware, Hope was unaware. As Josie and Hope are ‘fall first x falls harder’

This is all! Thanks for reading. This might just be one of the longest articles I have written in a while. (But Hosie is a hyperfixation, so that might be why)

Have a good day!
