This article focuses on Hope and the proof in s1 and s2.

Hello beautiful people. I’m back with ANOTHER hosie article. And before you ask “Again?” Yes again! Because HOSIE FOREVER!

Okay, moving forward, please note that I don’t paid to write these, I write these for pure enjoyment and it is something I love writing, so I take the time out of my day to write these because this ship brings me comfort.

Moving forward. I am going to finally go in depth on exactly why Hope and Josie were in love in the show, even if it was never said out loud or confirmed by the writers, cast or showrunner. All the proof you need is within the context of the show itself. When you watch closely and pay close attention to the details the show provides.

Throughout the show, there have been clear signs and indications that there were feelings between the two of them. However, I believe that Josie’s feelings were more aware than Hope’s were. And when Hope’s feelings were finally realized, she was too late.

When we read between the lines, we can see little hints and clues that point to how Josie’s feelings for Hope were clouding her thoughts and everyone could see it. It was clear as day that Josie had feelings for Hope. Her own girlfriend picked up on it and could tell that Josie was so fixated and obsessed with bringing Hope’s humanity back.

I am not sure about anyone else, but I surely wouldn’t go to hell and back just for somebody who is my ‘friend’. → sure , I’d still fight, but keep in mind that Hope put Josie’s father in a coma and Josie completely ignored that/looked past that and focused back on how to bring Hope’s humanity back.

For now, I’m going to map out Hope and Josie’s history. From the pilot, up until Josie leaves. I won’t go into depth with every episode in every season, I’m going to go over the important details as those are the most important parts of this article and to prove just how deeply in love they were with each other. For this part of the article, I’m going to just focus on proof that Hope loved Josie, and later, I’ll go into Josie’s proof.

SEASON 1:

In S1, Hope and Josie have a bit of a frenemy streak. They’re not really friendly, however in the pilot, Hope seeks Josie’s help using black magic to find Landon Kirby. At first, Josie declines to help Hope, pointing out how Hope only speaks to her and her sister very rarely. However, Hope points out that Josie lit her own ex on fire. Josie accuses Hope of blackmail, but Hope denies and says that she’s just “looking for a kindred spirit in revenge,”

What is a kindred spirit? This is important to note for later:

According to the Cambridge dictionary. It is as following:

kindred spirit

noun [ C ]

a person who has the same opinions, feelings, and interests as you:

Knowing what we know about the term kindred spirit, it’s important to note just how important this moment is between Hope and Josie. Hope could’ve chosen anyone else in the school to help her use a spell to track Landon down. But she chose to ask Josie. When she knows her and the Saltzman twins aren’t exactly bffs.

Moving on, throughout the show, Hope constantly seeks Josie’s assistance in the spells they need to do to defeat monsters. It’s obvious that Josie became a real person of importance to Hope very quickly and how their friendship formed quite fast. Considering they never really spoke beforehand. In the third episode, Hope and Josie are working together doing community service after they get into trouble using magic during a football game with human kids. They get into a bit of bickering, before Hope stabs her foot with a picket to pick up garbage. There’s a moment where the two are flirting, or it can be read as flirting. Hope and Josie manage to remove the picket from Hope’s foot and Josie teases her saying that she poked herself. Which gets a laugh out of Hope, and that’s the first time the two of them show signs of being somewhat comfortable around each other. Afterwards, they discuss things and at some point, Josie brings up how her previous crush was “actually Satant reincarnate” (Aka Penelope, Josie’s ex) → however, she pauses for a second and says “Unless you count…” and she pauses, prompting Hope to ask “who?” to which Josie casually dismisses Hope’s question.

On the twins’ birthday, Josie gets a birthday present from Hope. Inside the little envelope is a talisman. A pendant of some sort. It is said that a talisman is supposed to protect, heal or harm individuals for whomever the talisman is designed for. In this case, the talisman is meant to protect Josie or in Hope’s words: “Make Quiet Things Heard,”

At some point during the twins’ birthday, Josie gets buried alive by her dead zombified mother Jo, who was murdered on her wedding day. Hope learns of Josie’s disappearance and instantly finds herself freaking out. She recruits the help of Penelope Park and MG to find Josie. Which they agree to help. They try to find her and end up running into some trouble with zombies. As they realize they might be running out of time, Hope starts to become more and more frantic, even telling MG:

“Damn it MG, get up and find her,”

Proving just how special Josie truly became to her. Eventually, to their luck, they found Josie and were able to rescue her before anything terrible truly happened. (Josie dying after being buried alive)

There’s a lot more to cover with S1, but I’ll cover those details a little faster.

In another episode, Josie and Lizzie return from Europe and Lizzie makes a wish that Hope Mikaelson never attended Salvatore School. The jinn grants her the wish. In the alternate universe, the Saltzman’s school is lacking students, it’s basically falling apart. And eventually, they find Hope. Who in this alternate universe, is full tribrid at that point. Unsatisfied, Lizzie makes another wish. The second wish brings the twins to attending a normal human school, masking their powers and trying to live their lives as normal kids. When something goes awry, Hope Mikaelson ends up at the school and recruits the Saltzman’s to go to the Mikaelson school (assuming in this life: Klaus survived) → When they laid eyes on each other, there’s instant attraction. Note, Josie had a boyfriend in this universe but immediately forgot about him the second Hope comes into the picture. The two of them end up being really flirty, with Hope placing her hand on Josie’s leg very flirtatious

Still unhappy with the result of the wish, Lizzie wishes Hope was never born. In this alternate universe, it’s revealed that Hope was never born and Josie died. I don’t know the writing purposes behind those choices, but to me, it says that Hope and Josie are supposed to exist in the same world to keep a balance. Without the other, neither of them can exist. (soulmates? yeah)

During another episode, everyone is infected by worms that are meant to lower ambitions. It’s very strange to explain truly but at one point, Josie is infected and ends up going somewhere with Penelope. Once again, Hope is freaking out, realizing that Josie could very well be in danger.

The following episodes are most important. During “There’s A Mummy On Main Street,” it’s revealed that Josie had a crush on Hope, and Josie is why there was a fire in Hope’s dorm. At first, Hope is unhappy that Josie started lies about Hope, putting a wedge between the two of Hope and Lizzie, but later on it’s revealed that Hope’s smitten by Josie’s crush confession. This is also important to the conversation.

In the S1 pilot, Josie is shot by a bullet that’s supposed to kill supernatural kids. With the help of Hope’s blood, Josie’s healed. After Hope jumps into the malivore pit, Josie’s the only one to feel something. The show never really explains that, but it’s universally believed by the fandom that Josie felt Hope being forgotten about.

Season 2:

After months of being trapped in Malivore, Hope escapes and ends up going back to the school, where she sees Josie and Landon (Who Hope was dating in the previous season) kissing. This of course breaks her and she finds herself crying, as she was in love with Landon. However, at times I question if there was a deeper meaning.

Throughout the season, Josie feels something off about Hope. And it could truly be because of Hope’s blood being in her system. But the show never really explains it (they do that often)

It’s so much to cover but throughout s2, it’s mainly Hope pining after Josie, trying to rekindle everything they had and desperately trying to fix their friendship. Especially after Josie tells her that she wants Hope to stay, only for Hope to run back to Landon.

It’s revealed that Hope had a crush on Josie at 14, which is exactly why Hope was so smittend at the confession. Because it was requited.

During one part of the show, the Saltzman’s are sent to the prison world by Alyssa Chang, and Hope the entire time is just in a panic. Constantly freaking out at the idea of them (Josie) being trapped somewhere with Kai Parker, the man who killed his own twin sister (Josie and Lizzie’s uncle)

Hope is forced to make a choice between Landon and the Saltzman’s. She ends up choosing the Saltzman’s.

“I had to make a choice….and I didn’t choose Landon,”- Hope Mikaelson.

Hope constantly worries over Josie’s safety. She can’t bear to handle the thought of something happening to Josie. She loves Josie deeper than most people could ever admit. And that’s enough to say.. Hope’s worry screamed more than friends and what others might read into.

To wrap up S2, Hope and Josie have a fight, where dark Josie nearly kills her. And for a second, Hope breaks through with her speech.

“I know you think she’s weak, but I know the truth. She’s strong, you’re strong. No one can shoulder the burdens that you carry. And you are always there for your friends when they need you. So please Jo, we really need you right now,”

And that speech alone is able to bring the real Josie back for a second.

To consider more, everyone wanted to hurt Josie when she was dark and Hope prevented it. She went all out and sent anyone who wanted to harm Josie into a therapy box to protect her. It proves just how much she loves her.

When Hope enters Josie’s head, her first instinct was to find Josie and protect her. She refused to leave Josie behind and was always the one to stand in front of her, making sure Josie was behind…

Oh yeah, she didn’t even say no to kissing Josie awake, she just said it wasn’t okay because it wasn’t consensual. (She had a boyfriend at the time by the way) →

Everything I’ve listed so far is enough proof that Hope loved Josie… take what you will..

I need to end the article here, but I will continue writing focusing on s3 and s4 for Hope and then go in depth with Josie’s side.

Have a good day
